The nerve of a tooth can become irritated or inflamed as a result of deep cavities, large fillings and overuse. If this irritation or inflammation is irreversible, the dentist will need to treat it through root canal treatment. During this treatment, multiple x-rays will be taken to ensure proper treatment. Root canal treatment is done under local anesthesia.
Pain after nerve treatment can sometimes be very intense. It often does not last more than two days. If an ordinary painkiller no longer helps during this period or the pain persists after a few days, please contact your dentist.
